There is a new shop set to open in Long Grove Illinois. M. Belle’s Pie Shop & Café will open its doors next Tuesday, May 1st, serving up fresh baked goods, breakfast, and lunch in the heart of the Village of Long Grove, in beautiful Fountain Square. The new shop will compliment the Village core, serving up a bit of traditional homemade fare with a local flare.

M. Belle’s Pie Shop & Café has a passion for pie and is bringing this passion to Long Grove. A variety of pies will be served at M. Belle’s, with seasonal specials like peach and rhubarb as the fruits come in season. Other specialties of the shop include cheesecake, savory meat and vegetable pies, and Cornish pasties. The timing of the opening of M. Belle’s could not be better, with The Chocolate Fest occurring its first weekend, offering a great opportunity to swing in and try something delicious!

Long Grove Makes It Easy To Take Care of Earth

Earth Day is Sunday, but the Long Grove area will celebrate on Saturday, April 28th with recycling events that will help the earth. The recently released Long Grove Newsletter highlights recycling in its “Recycling Rita” section. Announcements for residents of Long Grove included two special recycling events that are centered around Earth Day and what it stands for.

Vernon Township Highway Department will be celebrating Earth Day by holding its first Annual Recycle-O-Rama and Environmental Fair from 10 am to 2 pm at their office at 3050 N. Main Street in Buffalo Grove. This is a great opportunity to rid yourself of electronics, athletic shoes, cell phones, batteries, ink cartridges, hearing aids, fluorescent light bulbs, and more. There will also be an opportunity to take advantage of paper shredding services. Recycling paint will be available for a fee ($1.50/quart, $2.50/gallon, $800/5 gallon drum). To top it off the Township is asking for donations of non-perishable food for the Vernon Township Food Pantry.

Another collection event is for household chemical waste, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Round Lake Beach Metra Train Station. For more information, visit the SWALCO website at www.swalco.org or call 847-336-9340.

Long Grove Real Estate, Looking Good!

Long Grove real estate is looking good. Volume is up and prices are up, which is great news for anyone selling. The good news for buyers is that Long Grove real estate is still extremely affordable compared with before the recession, and there are a number of fantastic homes for sale.

The real estate tracking website Trulia.com shows that for the 3 week period from February 22nd through March 14th sales volumes was up over 43% compared with the same 3 week period a year ago. This is a tremendous increase in Long Grove real estate sales, which most likely has sellers in the area breathing a sigh of relief!

The data also shows that for this same 3 week period the median sales price is up over 3% and the average price per square foot is up over 20%. While housing prices are certainly not skyrocketing, a decrease in foreclosures is helping to level out the prices for Long Grove homes.

Mark your calendars because Ice Meltin’ Blues is coming back to Long Grove Illinois in less than 2 weeks. We love music in Long Grove, as is evident by the many concerts hosted in the Village throughout the year, but this is the time of year that we are all anxious for Spring and nothing heralds its arrival quite like the Ice Meltin’ Blues!
